Maddie gets to go to Camp Colton next week! All sixth graders in Flagstaff get to attend this week long came in the wilderness of Arizona for Project LIFE (Life in the Flagstaff Environment)!! I am so excited for her! I don't know what we will do without her for a week--it was hard enough for 3 days when she went to Sea Camp in San Diego last year!!
It will be a great experience for her! She has met a few good friends so they hope to bunk together!! It is only about an hour away from Flagstaff on the lower slopes of the San Francisco Peaks near Hart Prairie.
I feel bad because this will only be her second time actually camping!! Her first time was 2 years ago to a friends birthday party in Tucson, AZ! I guess I am just not a camper! But I loved camping when I was young so I think I need to buck up and take the family camping!! --Maybe next summer when it is warm!! ;)

How fun for Maddie! I hope she has a great time! And don't feel bad, we haven't taken our family camping either, and Lewis has NEVER even been camping. We need to go sometime too.
I hate camping so best of luck Maddie. Sounds like you will have a fun time.
i hate camping - seriously, camping in cabins with a camp cook and lots of helpers for girls camp was a stretch for me! she will have so much fun and it will help her get ready for girls camp!
i'm so glad she's already made some fun friends that she wants to bunk with! how exciting!
good luck living without her for a week! i swear it's hardest on the mom! :)
I love parts of camping: the smell of food cooked over a smokey pit; the crisp, cold air in the morning; the stars; huh, huh, guess that's all. Mostly I don't like the dirt, walking a mile to a toilet that drops stuff down into a bottomless pit, bugs, and that just about covers it all.
Now Maddie, you go have a good time and know that I would love to be with you (really, I would.)
Super for Maddie. (don't listen to Carol) You'll have a great time. You'll probably come home having learned which bugs sting and which ones don't, learned some cool camp songs, that it doesn't matter that your hands aren't always clean before you eat and that you CAN go to sleep if you forget to brush your teeth. I googled it, looks like a great. I wanna go!
