COLD STONE--Gotta Have It!!

Well, of course, since we had so many fun and exciting events we made the traditional ice cream run! (We have had a lot of ice cream runs lately...) With the programs for the 3rd and 5th grade Honor Roll and then Maddie got a Cold Stone gift card from her teacher for getting the most AR points in their class! (AR--Accelerated Reader--they read books and take comprehension tests about them. Each book is given a specific point value.)

Anyway--Cold Stone was packed but we stuck it out and got our yummy ice cream! Which was good because it is really starting to heat up here! It is going to be in the 90's all week possibly hitting the 100 mark again!!

Madison--Chocolate/Vanilla ice cream with brownies and fudge
Taylor--Chocolate ice cream with TWIX pieces
Emerie--Cotton Candy ice cream with white chocolate chips
Payton--(ate some of Mom's)
Mom--Cheesecake ice cream with black cherries and chocolate flakes
Dad--French Vanilla ice cream, bananas, walnuts, caramel

Always one of our favorite ice cream stops!! They have the creamiest ice cream!!

Kendall is Here!! and D.A.R.E. Graduation!!

We were so excited when we found out Kendall (Madison's friend from Tucson)was coming to stay for a few days! Jana called this morning about 9:30am to say Kendall was ready for me to pick her up from her aunt's! So I drove over to Henderson and picked her up and got back by about 11:30am. She hung out with Payton and Emerie while I showered (I actually got a workout in this morning). We then had lunch and headed to the DARE graduation! I was so excited to surprise Maddie when she saw Kendall!! They hadn't seen each other for about 9 months!! It was so fun to see Maddie's face!! She ran up and gave her a hug!!

The DARE graduation was really neat! It made both me and Kerby get teary eyed even before the actual 5th grade graduation!! They had Kendall Tenney from Channel 3 as the guest speaker. The principal, as he spoke, even got teary eyed! Maddie's friend Allie actually got to read her DARE essay because she was one of the 5 essay winners! What a great program DARE is! I think it really works for a lot of kids!

Payton didn't get a nap because she normally sleeps between 1 and 3 and that just wasn't going to work with the graduation. So as you can see in the picture she finally crashed at 2:45pm!

Here are the proud parents with their new DARE graduate!

And, of course, you have to go out for ice cream after such a special occasion!! Baskin Robbins is always a good place for that! Maddie said, "Mom do you really need to take a picture?" I said, "Yes!"

Today ended up being a cool weather day! It actually rained a little in the afternoon and the kids wanted to go play in it! They rode scooters and bikes in the rain! Even Payton wanted to put on her bike helmet! Maddie is having a ball with Kendall here!!
